TRIPLE "A" GAMES

This mockup was supposed to be a "Meet the team" page for the Triple A Games studio sitting on the bottom of their webpage. On paper, you could select the portrait of each member and it would direct to their X's account. So the portraits were supposed to be a separated animation that would be overlayed on top of the background.

The idea behind this mockup is a mix between character screen selection and HQ upgrades screen. The initial concept of their project was a "Stardew Valley meets Monaco", where you would develop the resources necessary to do heists in a tactical gameplay, while using a social system to acquire new members to achieve your goals.

I made these run animations by referencing the keyframes of Stardew Valley walk animations, but with a heavier weight where the feet is landing. I also focused on diversifying the way each character walks to give them more personality. These characters were supposed to be doing random things in different topics of their page, hence the difference animations.

Adam was the hardest to nail down, as he's smaller and bulkier than the others, and I had to remove the glass to allow some expressions without making his face too busy.

Curious fact: Ali cut his hair during the production of these assets and we were unsure on what to do with his portrait, so in some assets his hair is more grown and in others, not.

The portraits were heavily inspired by Stardew Valley, it was a mixture between the palette used by ConcernedApe and some custom colors. Part of my job was also teaching André how to adapt your work to someone's else style, so we picked upon some portraits for reference due to unique the style of the characters, shadow and angle.

The name of the studio is a pun referencing the fact that the name of all the three members starts with the letter "A", even though they were a small indie team.

Triple A Games unfortunately disbanded before they even started their first project. Each member had their own jobs and lives that conflicted with the time necessary for the development of a prototype. While I was happy to work as a pixel art consultant and to produce this initial mockup of how the game could look like, I genunely wish that more work was done.
