My name is Marcelo Lehmkuhl (and some people call me Lehmure) and I’m a brazilian pixel artist with some years of experience when it comes creating assets for 2D games. I mostly focus on spritework and animations but I'm always open and willing to learn more about other subtopics on pixel art to develop my skills further and help with any project at hand any way that I can. I always try to vary my style constantly as it broadens my horizons on how to approach any piece that I'm working on, as that allows me to achieve a creative and polished outcome of the piece in question. Due to being a big fan of gamejams, I learned the basic graphic pipeline from different game engines like Unity, GameMaker and Godot and know my way around them.
I tend to prefer working with small teams as that allows a deeper connection and a faster flow of work. But to be honest, a lot of joyful moments in my life came from this line of work. Due to pixel art, I was able to meet people from different parts of the world that I would never be able to do it otherwise, learn about them and their culture, and being able to know projects that I wouldn't know otherwise as well and that I'm proud to be part of.
Since I had a low budget-pc most of my life, I always ended playing old games and indie titles, which made me a big fan of old RTSs; building games, SNES and PSX JRPGs and tactics games in general. So my favorite games are: The Settlers IV, Stardew Valley, Heroes of Might and Magic III, Terraria, Rollercoaster Tycoon 2, Final Fantasy VII, Slay the Spire, Chrono Trigger and Digimon World 3. And I love cooking and eating greasy food. I also live on a small, quaint, island. So, whenever I'm not working or playing videogames, I'm swimming in the ocean or cycling around with friends. I'm also a part-time musician that's usually busy on the carnival playing in fanfares and marching bands in the streets of the city that I grew on.
And these are games that I've worked on and that I'm proud to be part of it's construction (clicking on the image will redirect to their Steam page):
Beasties of Greenhollow
On Beasties of Greenhollow by Pandomime Studio as their sprite artist and animator, and some of the work is on my main page. The focus on this game was to make quirk characters in small shapes and sizes that looked similar to early Digimon and Pokemon games, while presenting small animations that aimed to give more life to the characters.
The Crazy Hyper Dungeon Chronicles
Crazy Hyper Dungeon Chronicles as a sprite artist, which relied on creating multiples animations for each character and for each action under a strict and compact template, due to the scale of the sprites, being a homage to 8-bit games.
FEELS
I've worked on FEELS as a composer and also on spritework, producing 18 soundtracks to the third chapter of the game, which is about to be released later this year, and also some graphics in some areas. I'm personally very fond of this game because it introduced me not only to ASCII games but also to ASCII aesthetics, which I became a big fan. There's some work in my main portfolio that Initially were a bunch of sprites made in REXPaint with a custom character font.
Reality Core
I've worked on updating the graphics of Reality Core as a sprite and tile artist for it's initial re-release, that it's due to happen also later this year. The game's a twin stick shooter that focus on being a quirky roguelike very inspired by Rick and Morty.
Mushies
I've worked on revamping all the main graphics on Mushies, which included the work as a sprite and tile artist for it's initial release that's due to happen on the Steam Next Fest. While I cannot show the graphics that I've done due to contract restrictions, at the moment is my recent and best work.
